It comes as an upgrade over the highly acclaimed D1se desktop DAC. The D2 belongs to the high-end “VMV” series of audio products by S.M.S.L. It is loaded with now of print AK4499 Velvet Verita flagship DAC chip by AKM technologies.

Decent sound quality. Did not dissapoint me. It actually impressed me. As it is by the whole level better than I have had before(more or less simular price tag dacs). It is dynamic and detailed but not harsh or overly bright. As usualy soft sounding dacs lacks dynamics and dynamic dacs are bright and sometimes even harsh on high frequencies. This dac has super detailed highs. Sweet midrange and good bass with impressive soundstage. Build quality is also very good.
